UPDATE: Second Suspect Arrested In Murder Of JSU Student

UPDATE: A second suspect has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting death of Jaylen Burns, according to WLBT.

JSU said that its Department of Public Safety, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, and Columbia Police Department arrested a man named Jamison Kelly, Jr. from Columbia.

WLBT said that he is expected to be taken to Raymond Detention Center.

Jackson State University police arrested a student who attended Jones College after JSU student, Jaylen Burns, was shot and killed on campus Sunday (October 15).

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said that 19-year-old Joshua Brown is being held at the Raymond Detention Center.

Brown was taken into custody by Jackson State University Police early this morning (Thursday, October 19th)

According to WLBT, Jones College sent out a press release Wednesday stating that their campus police arrested Brown and handed him over to Jackson State University police.

19-year-old Brown is also being charged with being in possession of a weapon on school property, according to the affidavit obtained by WLBT.
