Jones County Woman Arrested for Drug Trafficking

On Wednesday morning, narcotics agents from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department (JCSD) arrested 59-year-old Mary Gavin at a home on 111 Stone Deavours Lane in Laurel.

The arrest led to the seizure of illegal narcotics and multiple firearms, including a machine gun conversion device.

Gavin has been charged with several offenses, including Trafficking of Methamphetamine, Oxycodone, MDMA, and Psilocybin, all while in possession of a firearm, as well as Possession of MDPV and a machine gun conversion device.

“This arrest is a culmination of an investigation by JCSD and federal law enforcement agencies,” stated JCSD Narcotics Division Lieutenant Jake Driskell.

Lieutenant Driskell said the items they seized included approximately 231 grams of MDMA, 129 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 246 dosage units of suspected fentanyl-laced oxycodone, 125 grams of psilocybin, 23 grams of MDPV (Molly), and three firearms, one of which had been converted to a fully automatic machine gun.

Gavin is currently held at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility and is scheduled to appear in Jones County Justice Court today at 1:00 p.m.
