Illegal Livestock Leads to Marijuana Bust in Amory

On June 20, the Amory Police Department and Animal Control Officers conducted a search and seizure warrant on Evergreen Street.

The warrant as in connection with multiple complaints from residents regarding the illegal keeping of livestock/fowl inside the city limits.

While executing the warrant for animals on the property, police noticed several marijuana plants being grown in the resident’s backyard.

A second search warrant in conjunction with the North Mississippi Narcotic Unit was obtained for the home, which yielded the seizure of additional marijuana plants, indoor cultivation equipment, and additional marijuana seeds.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected and will be announced.
