On September 1, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Mississippi Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office, recovered the remains of an unknown deceased individual.
Today, the Mississippi Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed through DNA analysis that the remains belong to Gregory Varnado.
A Silver Alert was issued for Gregory Donell Varnado on August 15th. He was last seen driving a blue 2020 Chevrolet Equinox.
The Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Varnado’s death, which remains undetermined at this time.
Sheriff Ryan Everett said that despite the uncertainty surrounding his death, authorities have stated that the investigation will remain active as they work to uncover further details.
