The Hattiesburg Police Department is renewing its call for the public’s help in solving a fatal hit-and-run that happened on May 18, 2023.

The incident took place around 8:50 p.m. on Edwards Street at Barkley Road, where officers discovered 63-year-old William Chambliss, of Hattiesburg, unresponsive in the roadway.

Chambliss was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined the collision occurred in the northbound lane of Edwards Street.

A witness reported seeing a white Toyota Camry speed away after Chambliss was found in the roadway.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the fatal hit-and-run to contact Hattiesburg Police or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers by dialing **Tips or visiting www.P3Tips.com.

The case remains under investigation.
