Hattiesburg Police Arrest Suspect in Martin Luther King Avenue Shooting

On Wednesday, August 21, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Hattiesburg Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a male suspect had fired multiple rounds at individuals and an occupied home before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

Following a brief pursuit, officers apprehended the suspect, identified as 37-year-old De’Juan Jackson of State Line, Mississippi.

Jackson was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault: Use of a Deadly Weapon and one count of Shooting into a Dwelling. He is currently being held at the Forrest County Jail.

Police have confirmed that the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The investigation remains active, and additional details will be released as they become available.
