Gulfport Police arrested 39-year-old Daronda Monique Jackson early Thursday morning, charging her with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

The incident began when Jackson arrived at the Gulfport Police Station around 2:53 a.m. to discuss a hit-and-run.

After officers informed her she had outstanding misdemeanor warrants and was under arrest, Jackson claimed she needed to speak to a juvenile in her vehicle.

When the officer offered to relay the message, Jackson attempted to flee by entering her vehicle.

Despite the officer standing in the doorway, Jackson reversed the vehicle, dragging the officer and striking a sign before the officer managed to escape.

Jackson fled but was apprehended after a brief pursuit by the Biloxi Police Department.

Jackson is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $250,000 bond set by Judge Patano.
