Many incidents go unreported, and authorities are asking the public to speak up if they witness any suspicious activity.

On September 11, around 12:49 p.m., officers responded to a report of package theft in the 12000 block of Preservation Drive.

Video footage showed a suspect described as a black male, approximately 5’8″ to 6’0″ tall, weighing between 150 and 200 pounds.

The man was seen removing two packages from a front porch before fleeing in a white, four-door sedan.

To help prevent further thefts, especially during the holiday season, the Gulfport Police Department shared several tips:

  • Have packages delivered to your workplace.
  • Send packages to a friend or relative’s home where someone is present.
  • Arrange for packages to be held at your local post office for pickup.
  • Request signature confirmation upon delivery.
  • Ask carriers to leave packages in a discreet location.
  • If available, have packages delivered to a neighborhood community center.

Anyone with information regarding this theft is encouraged to contact the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
