Friday Weather: Showers and storms, severe weather potential

Mary Apel

Thunderstorms are likely across the forecast area today, with high temperatures ranging from the mid 60s to lower 70s. Thunderstorms that develop will be capable of producing heavy rainfall and severe weather including damaging wind gusts, hail, and tornadoes. Please see the specific forecast graphics for severe weather and flooding threats regarding potential impacts and timing for your area.

As a storm system continues to move across the region tonight, the chance for showers and thunderstorms will continue to shift eastward through the night. Low temperatures are expected to range in the mid 50s to mid 60s. Threats for severe thunderstorms and flooding should gradually decrease through the night.

Heavy rainfall is expected with several rounds of thunderstorms today into tonight. Some areas could receive between 2 to 4 inches of rain during this time, with locally higher amounts possible. This could result in localized flash flooding and minor river flooding for parts of our forecast area.
