Friday Weather: Hot and dry, heed local burn bans!

Mary Apel

Ongoing drought, very low humidity, and gusty winds will result in elevated wildfire danger today and Saturday during the afternoon and early evening. Fires are more likely to escape control. Open burning is discouraged and care should be taken to avoid activities that produce sparks or flames near dry vegetation. Heed any local burn bans.

Mostly sunny skies are expected today with temperatures well above normal ranging from the the upper 80s in the southwest to near 80 in the northeast.

Skies will be mostly clear tonight with lows dropping into the upper 40s northeast and lower to mid 50s elsewhere.
