Dangerous heat stress is expected to persist through at least early this weekend. Areas mainly west of I-55 have already observed multiple days of heat indices between 110-115 degrees, and an Extreme risk for dangerous heat is highlighted in these areas. There is a chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms today, with better chances favoring areas south and east of the Natchez Trace. High temperatures are expected to be above normal and range from the mid 90s to low 100s.
