On Monday, May 27, at approximately 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to reports of shots fired on Northside Drive.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a black Nissan Altima (Blackburn tag) that had been struck by multiple gunshots.
Four young men were found lying near the car, suffering from gunshot wounds. They were later transported to UMMC Medical Center in Jackson.
During our investigation, we were able to identify and arrest Jamarcus Hamlin and De’Airton Simmons, charging them with four counts of aggravated assault with the use of a deadly weapon.
De’Airton Simmons was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. This is an ongoing investigation, and more arrests will be forthcoming.
