Four inmates have been charged with arson after setting fire to county jail.

Last Friday night a fire broke out in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center causing two inmates and three deputies to be treated at BMHGT for second degree burns and possible smoke inhalation.

Four inmates have now been charged with arson. Dylan Langford, 25, is charged with Arson, Destruction of County Property and three counts of Aggravated Assault by Arson on a Law Enforcement Officer. He has a total bond of $425,000.
Joshua Newell, 39, has been charged with Arson and has a $100,000 bond.
Terry Leshaun Brooks, 45, and Jamar Stallings, 38, both are charged with Arson. Both are awaiting to have their initial appearances and have a bond set.
All four inmates remain at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is conducting the investigation and has filed charges on the four inmates. The investigation revealed that the fire started in a day-room of the facility. Evidence also shows that a surveillance camera was disabled and the wires were shorted causing a spark and Langford used the spark to ignite the fire.

Clean up is under way but a total estimate of the damage has not been determined at this time.
