These four were arrested in a series of car burglaries in Lowndes County.

Four Lowndes County residents have been arrested after officials said they were walking through neighborhoods testing car doors to see if they were locked, and then burglarizing them.

The crime spree occurred in a subdivision near West Mill Road, Thurlow Road and Phillips Hill Road, all in the New Hope Community, according to officials. Deputies responded to several auto burglaries in this area. During a neighborhood canvass, deputies discovered eight burglaries of unlocked cars where belongings were taken and several other vehicles were found with the doors open and nothing taken.

Deputies utilized surveillance video from homeowners along with other investigating techniques to track down the suspects.

Now Lowndes County Detectives have arrested four suspects, three males and a female, ranging in age from 20 years old to 22 years old and charged them all with possession of stolen property. Two firearms, a laptop, and other personal belongings were recovered from the burglarized vehicles. As this investigation unfolds, detectives will determine charges on all four of the suspects. This investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrest are expected.

  • 20-year-old Glenn Rose from Columbus is charged with possession of stolen property.
  • 20-year-old Javarion Davis of Columbus is charged with possession of stolen property.
  • 22-year-old Delmonte Thomas of Aliceville Al is charged with possession of stolen property.
  • 20-year-old McKenzie Harriston of Jacksonville Fl. is charged with possession of stolen property.

“Suspects were walking the neighborhood checking car door handles to see what they could steal. This is good reminder; if you LOCK YOUR CARS and secure your belongings, you are almost guaranteeing that you will not be a victim of a burglary,” said Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
