Fire at Tupelo Wal-Mart Under Investigation

On September 10, at approximately 6:20 p.m., the Tupelo Police and Fire Departments responded to a fire at the Wal-Mart on West Main Street.

After an initial investigation, it was determined that the fire, which started in the arts and crafts section, was intentionally set.

The blaze began with a bouquet of fake flowers and activated the store’s sprinkler system, leading to water damage.

On September 11, further investigation identified three juveniles as the suspects.

Two were apprehended and taken to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center, while the third is still being sought.

The incident remains under investigation, and all charges will be handled by Lee County Youth Court.
