A sea turtle laid a nest on a beach in Pass Christian. This is the first sea turtle nest that has been laid on a Mississippi beach since 2018.

Nearly all sea turtle’s species are now extinct. Last Monday, The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies announced that they received a call from Harrison County Sand Beach reporting a sea turtle track.

IMMS staff confirmed the nest location and marked it off to keep it safe.

They asked that the public does not disturb the nest as the eggs are incubating.

Turtle eggs typically take 50-60 days to incubate before hatching.
