Picayune police officers conducting a traffic stop discovered a trailer that had been stolen for four years, officials said.

Last Thursday, Detectives with the Picayune Police Department Special Operations Division conducted a traffic stop at Telly Road near South Haugh Ave on a Chevy Tahoe for traffic violations. The Tahoe was pulling a trailer.

During the traffic stop, police figured out that the trailer was stolen from Bay County, Florida in 2020. It is not believed that the driver was aware of the theft however this remains an ongoing investigation.

Police said they are returning the trailer to its rightful owner.

“Our officers work diligently to address all matters of criminal activity and when possible assist with the location and return of property,” said a post from the department.
