According to WLBT, Jefferson County authorities are investigating after unidentified human remains were found on August 12 by deer hunters.

Sheriff James Bailey says at 6:52 p.m., deer hunters at a camp on Rodney Road in Lorman smelled a foul odor.

According to the sheriff, Jefferson County does not have an active missing persons report. The sheriff told WLBT this suggests the body was brought here from another location.

MBI and Mississippi crime labs were called in to help with the investigation.
