Our Darkhorse Dog this week is the sweetest boy named Oz.

Two years ago, Oz, a lovable mix of American Bully, Boxer, and American Bulldog, found his way into his foster’s yard, seeking refuge and a chance for a better life.

Oz is still waiting for his perfect home, and the team at Cheshire Abbey in Jackson, is determined to find it for him.

Oz, a 5-year-old neutered male weighing around 65 pounds, is a delightful combination of laid back and active. He is content to relax with his human or soak up the sun but also requires ample exercise and mental stimulation. Known for his goofiness and friendly nature, Oz has never met a stranger.

Oz’s favorite activities include playing with toys, chasing, and tugging. He enjoys sniffing around and engaging with snuffle mats and is currently learning scent work. Oz has mastered a few tricks, including navigating hoops and agility equipment, as well as basic obedience commands. His strong food motivation makes him an eager learner, especially with positive reinforcement. Oz also loves hiking and behaves well on a harness. He is kennel-trained, entering and settling down with ease.

Oz gets along well with female dogs and is non-reactive to male dogs. He is not a fan of outdoor cats. His ideal home would include another female dog or a solo home where he can have all the love and attention.

Oz is fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative. If you think you could be the perfect match for Oz, please contact Cheshire Abbey at cheshireabbey@gmail.com or send a message on Facebook. The adoption process includes an application, veterinarian reference, and a home check to ensure the best fit for Oz.

Let’s find Oz the loving home he deserves—please share his story and help make his dream come true.
