Crash Involving Semi-Truck In Rankin County Leaves 26-Year-Old Dead

A young man from Mendenhall is dead after a crash in Rankin County that happened early Monday morning.

Monday, June 10, at 7:29 a.m. On Monday, June 10, at approximately 7:29 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on US-49 North near Star Rd. in Rankin County.

A 2019 Dodge Ram driven by 26-year-old Joseph Cook of Mendenhall, MS, was traveling north on US-49 when it collided with a 2022 International tractor-trailer driven by 37-year-old Vincent Armeria of Richton, MS.

The driver of the International tractor-trailer was not injured. The passenger of the Dodge Ram was airlifted to UMMC in Jackson, MS., with unknown injuries. 

Joseph Cook died in the crash. 

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
