Community Complaints Lead To Seizure Of 8 Dogs In Tupelo

The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit received multiple complaints of illegal drug activity and dog fighting in the 600 block of North Church Street in Tupelo.
On February 6th, North Mississippi Narcotics agents, the Tupelo Police and Lee County Sheriff’s Department SWAT teams served two search warrants in the 600 block of North Church Street.
During the search of one of the homes, eight dogs were temporarily seized by the Tupelo Police Animal Control officer.
A misdemeanor amount of illegal drugs was also discovered.
The owner was in violation of Tupelo’s Dangerous Animal Ordinance by not having the dogs registered, vaccinated, and properly confined.
No evidence of dog fighting was found during the search.
The dogs were taken to the Tupelo Lee Humane Society for their safety and well-being. This investigation is ongoing and charges may be pending.
