In 2023, the City of Madison applied for and was awarded a grant through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries under the Land Water Conservation Funds program. This grant is dedicated to expanding the play equipment at Liberty Village.

After a thorough review of all bids, Moonshot Recreation was awarded the contract for the project. Installation of the new equipment commenced around July 15, 2024, and is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The centerpiece of the new play area will be The Billows, a dynamic structure featuring ropes, slides, and climbers designed for children aged 5-12. Additionally, various other pieces will be installed around this main structure to enhance the play experience.

Across the walkway, a dedicated toddler area for children aged 2-5 will be created. This area will include a smaller main structure and several individual pieces to encourage play and development in younger children.

Once the installation of all play equipment is complete, both areas will receive new artificial turf safety surfacing, ensuring a safe and fun environment for all children.
