One Arrested After Wiggins Church Vandalized

Morgan Howard

According to WDAM, a church was vandalized in Wiggins. The Wiggins Police Department is investigating.

A man experiencing homelessness, 35-year-old Stefan Rowald was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of arson, and one count of felony malicious mischief.

He allegedly vandalized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Hall Street on Sunday morning.

Members of the church found the vandalization Sunday morning when they arrived for the service.

Graffiti was seen on the walls throughout the building and WDAM said they attempted to set it on fire.

Since some of the phrases in the graffiti could be considered a hate crime, the FBI and ATF were called in.

WDAM reported that Rowald has not been charged with any federal crimes, but the investigation is still ongoing.
