Bystanders Help Rescue People Trapped Inside House Fire In Greenville

At 2:32 pm yesterday., Engine 1, Engine 4, Rescue 7, Rescue 2, and Command 1 responded to a reported house fire with an elderly person trapped inside at 312 Short Clay St in Greenville.

Fire Dispatch advised fire units that bystanders were having a hard time helping the family escape.

   

Upon arrival, Command 1 reported a single-story wood frame structure was engulfed in flames.

A male bystander on the scene advised fire crews that he helped the family of two escape the blaze and the house was clear except for two dogs still inside.

Firefighters performed a defensive fire attack to extinguish the blaze.

Due to the intense heat, a vehicle was exposed to the fire which received, heat and fire damage to the rear of the vehicle.

The occupants of this home were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
