A Byram man is behind bars, accused in the shooting death of Hilton Willis, 40.

On Friday around 9:45 p.m. in the 4000 block of Wynndale Road inside the city limits of Byram, officers responded to a shots fired call. When officers arrived on scene, they found an open door to a residence, and located a male victim with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Officers cleared the home, and no one else was found.

Willis ultimately died of his injuries.

Upon further investigation, detectives developed suspect information which led to the arrest of 40 year old Kristopher Eddie Horton of Byram with the assistance of the Jackson Police Department.

Horton is currently being held at the Hinds County Detention Center without bond, until his initial appearance.
