During the week of June 3, the Tupelo Police Department received multiple reports of vehicles being broken into in residential areas of West Tupelo. The incidents occurred at night, with most vehicles left unlocked.

Following an investigation by Tupelo Police Department detectives, two arrests have been made. 18-year-old William Tylen Starks of Guntown, was arrested on June 7, and 19-year-old Ajai M. Gaston, of Saltillo, was arrested on June 11. Both individuals have been charged with eight counts of burglary of a vehicle.

On June 7, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered Starks to be held on a $24,000 bond. On June 13, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Gaston to be held without bond.

Additional charges and arrests are pending as the investigation continues. The charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.

The Tupelo Police Department urges residents to keep their vehicles locked and to report any suspicious activity.
