Maintenance Worker Finds Body Of Missing Columbus Man In Lake

Morgan Howard

The body of a man who went missing after a wreck in Columbus was found Saturday morning.
Cpl. Chris Ware with the Columbus Police Department received information from a Columbus Housing Authority Maintenance worker.
The worker told police that he went to Lake Norris where the missing man, Robert Hargrove, wrecked his car.
He put his boat in the water at the lake and while looking around, he found a body under some overhanging trees partially on the land and in the water.
The water level had receded, making the body more visible.
Columbus Fire and Rescue was notified for their boat and personnel and the Lowndes County Coroner was notified.
CFD and the Coroner Carol Culpepper came out and retrieved the body.
The body was in poor condition however from some tattoos left on the skin and the clothing attire the body is presumed to be Robert Hargrove who went missing on September 29 after a car accident.
The coroner will determine to send the body to Jackson for an autopsy and possible DNA confirmation.
