Body Found On Side Of Interstate In Marshall County Identified As Missing Woman

According to WMCA, the body of a woman was found on the side of I-22 in Marshall County. The body has been confirmed to be a woman reported missing in Memphis.

Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said the body was found around 9 a.m. Sunday and identified as 30-year-old Kelly Sistrunk.

WMC reports that Sistrunk’s family contacted Marshall County authorities because they discovered that her cell phone was pinging in the area. The body was found about 50 feet off the pavement on Interstate 22.

Sheriff Dickerson said she appeared to have a gunshot wound to the head.

”It’s terrible, of course, I’ve been in the business over 50 years. Any death is tragic under any circumstances and this certainly is no exception, but it’s one of the most horrendous scenes I’ve seen in my many years of investigation,” said Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

This case is being investigated as a homicide.
