Beside Still Waters: Love as you go

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” – Hebrews 6:10

I’m still in the book of Hebrews, and this passage has always stood out to me. To me, this is a reminder that God sees the little things as well as the big things.

Maybe you can’t donate $80,000 for a church roof like some people, but you can hand that homeless man a $10. You can uplift someone, you can forgive someone, you can love them on purpose.

It’s taking a cup of coffee to your friend at work just because you know she loves that flavor from Cups in Flowood, or sending a thoughtful text to a friend you think might be struggling. It’s, “hey, can I buy you dinner tonight? I just want to see your face.”

We do these things because of the love that is inside us, and that comes straight from the God of the Universe. By showing love to others, we are showing our love for Him.

How many times have you said, “Oh, I’ve been meaning to call you, I’m just so busy!” (I’m so guilty of this one.) But sometimes you just need to love now.

Love as you go, stop everything to love, just as Jesus would stop to bless people on a crowded street even when his disciples would remind him they had somewhere to be.

Opportunities to show others little pieces of what God looks like are on the road with us every day. Don’t be too busy or too focus-driven to see them, or to hear them calling your name. ❤️
