Belden Man Arrested After Traffic Stop Reveals Hydrocodone Tablets, Arrest Warrants

On Monday night, August 26, the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) reported the arrest of 40-year-old Richard Thomas Johnson, from Belden, MS, during a nighttime narcotics operation.

While patrolling the Longview area, officers observed Johnson commit a traffic violation, prompting a vehicle stop.

A records check revealed multiple outstanding arrest warrants for Johnson.

He was arrested and, during a search of his vehicle, deputies found 70 Hydrocodone tablets.

Following the discovery and further interrogation by the CID’s Major Case Unit, Johnson was charged with Trafficking of a Controlled Substance. He was booked into the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department Adult Detention Center. A Pontotoc County Justice Court Judge set his bond at $15,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
