Auto Theft Investigation Leads To Multiple Arrests, Vehicles Recovered In Byram

On Sunday, December 10, officers of the Byram Police Department were informed of a stolen 2015 Hyundai Sonata possibly within the Byram city limits.
Officers canvassed the area and were able to locate the vehicle on Siwell Road.
After initiating a traffic stop on the Hyundai Sonata, the occupants were identified as Antonio Kennedy and Michael Dotson, both of Jackson, MS.
The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen from the Jackson Public School District. Antonio Kennedy was arrested on scene and Michael Dotson fled on foot.
During the investigation, detectives were able to link Kennedy, along with Bennie Earl Williams and two juvenile brothers to the rash of auto thefts and attempted auto thefts within the Byram area during the time frame of November 11, 2023-December 12,2023.
A search warrant was later conducted on a home within the city of Jackson in which Michael Dotson and the two (2) juvenile suspects were apprehended during the search warrant.
Several firearms and ammunition were also recovered during the search Both Kennedy and Williams along with the two juveniles were charged with two counts of auto theft and two counts of attempted auto theft.
Both adults will be charged.
20-year-old Bennie Earl Williams, from Jackson, will be charged with 2 counts of Auto Theft, 2 counts of Attempted Auto Theft, and 4 counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
20-year-old Antonio Kennedy, from Jackson, will be charged with 2 counts of Auto Theft, 2 counts of Attempted Auto Theft, and 4 counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
