Attorney General’s Office Releases Findings On Recent Officer-Involved Shootings

The Attorney General’s Office released its recent review of four officer-involved shootings in Mississippi.

The four officer-involved shootings they reviewed were:

July 16, 2023: Adams County Sheriff’s Office

July 13, 2023: Harrison County Sheriff’s Department

June 3, 2023: Union County Sheriff’s Department

May 16, 2023: Meridian Police Department

“Today, the Office of the Attorney General announced it has completed the review of four incidents involving officer-involved shootings: a July 16, 2023, incident in Natchez with two Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies; a July 13, 2023, incident in Saucier with one Harrison County Sheriff’s Sergeant; a June 3, 2023, incident in Myrtle with one Union County Sheriff’s Deputy; and a May 16, 2023, incident in Meridian with four Meridian Police Officers. In all four incidents, the Attorney General’s Office found the use of force was justified. Pursuant to Section 45-1-6 of the Mississippi Code, the reviews followed an investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.”
