GULFPORT — A Florida woman was arrested after deputies seized 6.6 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 10 in Gulfport, authorities said.

Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley announced Thursday that the drugs were recovered April 22 during a stop at about 1:33 p.m. on eastbound I-10 near the 36-mile marker.

A deputy with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Division stopped a Nissan Altima and made contact with the driver, identified as Amy Broadt of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. During the stop, a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, officials said.

Deputies conducted a probable cause search and found approximately 6.6 pounds of cocaine inside a bag in the trunk, according to the sheriff’s office.

Harrison County narcotics investigators responded to the scene and took over the case.

Broadt was booked into the Harrison County jail and charged with aggravated trafficking of cocaine. Her bond was set at $250,000 by Judge Albert Fountain.

No additional information was immediately released.
