CARROLL COUNTY — A routine traffic stop in Carroll County led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man on multiple charges, including DUI, drug possession and weapons violations, authorities said.
Carroll County deputies stopped a vehicle Sunday, April 19, on Highway 7. During the investigation, deputies took Dallas Purifoy into custody and transported him to the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility.
Purifoy was charged with DUI — other, possession of controlled substances, including marijuana and ecstasy pills, firearm enhancement and concealment of weapons. He was later released on a $40,000 bond.
Sheriff Clint Walker said the arrest highlights the importance of proactive enforcement.
“Our deputies are well trained at spotting signs of impaired driving,” Walker said. “These stops are made to protect the public as they go about their business driving on the roads and highways of our county.”
Walker said the deputies’ investigation led to the discovery and seizure of both drugs and weapons.
“It is well known that illegal drugs fuel the epidemic of gun violence in our country,” he said. “Carroll County will not tolerate it in any shape, form or fashion. The safety and security of the people of our county is too important.”
No additional details were immediately released.
