HATTIESBURG – A minor died Monday night after an accidental shooting in Hattiesburg, according to the Hattiesburg Police Department.
Officers responded just after 7 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
When officers and emergency personnel arrived, they found that a minor had been struck by a single gunshot, according to police.
Preliminary information indicates the shooting was accidental.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and that there is no threat to the public.
