Travis Hunt: MISSING IN MISSISSIPPI Choctaw County

When Travis “Sean” Hunt left his home in August 2019, he left his phone, wallet, and medication. It would seem like he was planning to come back, especially since he also left without a shirt.

Hunt was last seen by a family member walking down Concord-Bethsalem Road in rural Choctaw County on the day of his disappearance. He never came home.

Hunt was reported missing to the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department by his uncle three days after he was last seen. Hunt had gone and stayed with friends for a few days in the past, his mother told the Red Hills News, but never without letting his family know.

Hunt suffers from bipolar disorder with mania and psychotic features and is in need of his medication. He had stayed at the East Mississippi State Hospital in Meridian three times, and was living with his grandmother after his last commitment.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation had brought in K9 search teams, but the August heat in the midst of a drought was affecting their ability to search for any amount of time, and K9 handlers were advised to hold off until there was more humidity.

The case took an odd turn when someone called Hunt’s mother, Kim Haynes, and demanded a ransom.

Haynes told the Red Hills News that Hunt isn’t dangerous to anyone except himself.

Travis “Sean” Hunt was 26 at the time he went missing. He is 5’8”, 185 lbs, with several tattoos including “Ole Miss” on his left shoulder and a cross necklace on his chest.

If you know anything about this case, please call the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department at 662-285-6129.
