On July 2, the Tupelo Police Department received a report of Felony Malicious Mischief involving the repeated defacement of an Elvis mural on the Reed’s building at 131 West Main St.

The complainant reported that the mural had been painted over and vandalized multiple times, with each repair costing the business over $1,000.

Following an investigation, James E. Pickler Jr., a 39-year-old male from Tupelo, was arrested on July 3, and charged with Felony Malicious Mischief. Later that day, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Sumner ordered Pickler to be held on a $1,000 bond.

The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further proceedings.
