Jackson Police responded to the Family Dollar at 3204 Medgar Evers Blvd Sunday afternoon in reference to an auto theft and kidnapping involving a child.
When police arrived, Stedmon Tolliver told officers that there was a child in the vehicle and it had been stolen. He was the one who had called police initially.
After investigators questioned Tolliver, he admitted that he fabricated the kidnapping. Tolliver’s vehicle was stolen and Jackson police are attempting to locate the vehicle at this time.
Tolliver was placed under arrest for filling a false police report, and booked in at the Adult City Holding Facility.
It is unclear why he pretended there had been a child in the car.
