Suspect in Pine Belt credit card frauds arrested in Hattiesburg

On Tuesday, Hattiesburg Police arrested an individual connected with multiple auto burglaries and multiple credit card fraud cases.

Robert Townsend, 45, of Hattiesburg was arrested in the 5900 block of Highway 49 around 12:15 p.m. He was wearing a yellow Mork & Mindy “Nanu Nanu” shirt.

Townsend has been charged in connection to the following incidents:

◾️Credit Card Fraud- occurred on Nov. 8, 2021, in the 5900 block of Highway 49
◾️Auto Burglary- occurred on Nov. 8, 2021, along Thomson Park
◾️Credit Card Fraud- occurred on Nov. 13, 2021, in the 6000 block of U.S. 98
◾️Auto Burglary- occurred on Nov. 13, 2021 in the 200 block of Sullivan Kilrain Rd.
◾️Credit card Fraud- occurred on Nov. 13, 2021, in the 5900 block of Highway 49
◾️Auto Burglary- occurred on Nov. 13, 2021, in the 100 block of Plaza Drive
Townsend has been charged with three counts of auto burglary, and three counts of credit card fraud. Each of the auto burglaries that occurred, Townsend shattered a window on the vehicle to gain entry and obtain valuables.

He is also wanted by Forrest County, Lamar County, Covington County and Petal, in connection to crimes in their jurisdictions.
Townsend has been booked into the Forrest County Jail, and has additional charges pending in multiple ongoing investigations.
