A 19-year-old drowned in the Homochitto River near Rosetta on Sunday.
According to authorities, he was on an outing with family and friends when he waded into deep water and was unable to swim.
WLBT reports that the body was identified as Joe Luis Galindo, of Hammond, Louisiana.
Franklin County Sheriff Tindle told WLBT that the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. off Highway 33 between Wilkinson and Franklin Counties.
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, Amite and Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Departments, and Franklin County Rescue all responded to the scene to help.
