UPDATE: Missing Person Investigation Turns To Murder Investigation; Husband Arrested

UPDATE: THURSDAY, 4:00 p.m. March 16:
The missing person investigation for 36-year-old Ebony Owens, has been upgraded to a murder investigation.
Owens died from at least one gunshot wound.
Her husband, 36-year-old Michael Owens, is in custody and facing multiple charges.
Ebony’s body has still not been found.

Search and recovery efforts are underway for the body of Ebony Owens at the Big Black River on Old Hwy 80 between the Hinds and Warren County lines.
MS Wildlife and Fisheries along with Warren County Sheriff’s Office are assisting Hinds County officials with the search.
UPDATE: THURSDAY, (10 a.m.) MARCH 16:
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department held a press conference to update on the missing woman case.
36-year-old Ebony Owens was reported missing by her family and her car was found burned Wednesday morning.

Sheriff Tyree Jones said right now they are looking for Ebony’s husband, Michael Owens, who is wanted for questioning. He clarified that her husband is not a suspect but they just want to speak with him.
Mrs. Owens lived with her husband Michael and their two children, ages 7 and 11.
He said they can tell the vehicle was intentionally burned they linked it to her because of evidence found inside the car. There is still no sign of Ebony.
The vehicle was found several miles from her house near the Warren County line.
Ridgeland Police and Hinds County authorities responded to the Ranch Apartments on County Line Road. Sheriff Jones said that a vehicle was towed from this location. There is evidence in the vehicle, and from the apartment that is linked to Mrs. Owens disappearance.
He said the evidence shows that she could be injured or in danger.
Sheriff Jones said that today, there will be active search and rescue in west Hinds County near the Warren County line with the assistance of other partners.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15:
The Hinds County Sherif’s Department is investigating a missing woman case.
36-year-old Ebony Owens of Edwards was reported missing Wednesday afternoon by her family. She was last seen driving her white 2015 ACURA TXL (MS-LP ONTYME3).
Ebony Owens was last seen in the Clinton and I-20 area Tuesday night.
Around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, a burned vehicle believed to be her white 2015 Acura TXL was found on Old Hwy 80/Jones Road in Edwards.
Sheriff Tyree Jones said that the license place was recovered near the car.
Ebony Owens was not found near or inside of her car. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department.
