Two people are behind bars after escaping custody when they were sent to the hospital for allegedly ingesting drugs. Pearl police say they are responsible for the burglary of a city building, commercial building and multiple thefts.
Jeffery Bryan Lefevre from Provo, Utah and Billy Lee Coram from Searcy White, Arkansas are charged with six counts of Grand Larceny, one count of Commercial Burglary, one count of Possession of Burglar Tools, and one count of Conspiracy.
On July 15 around 6 am, Pearl Police Department responded to a city building near the landfill to a report of a burglary. Officers arrived on scene and learned that a city building was burglarized, and several tools were stolen. While officers were on scene, officers received another call for service down the road from the landfill that a city contractor’s trailer was stolen, and a vehicle was burglarized.
Detectives recovered the stolen trailer in the vicinity, and the trailer had two stolen ATVs and one stolen UTV beside it.
Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the ATVs and UTV were stolen from Jackson Motor Sports. Conducting an investigation at the business, they saw that the back fence to their compound was cut, and two more UTVs were also stolen. Detectives then located the two stolen UTVs abandoned in the woods behind Jackson Motor Sports.
Police began reviewing video surveillance at nearby businesses, and saw two subjects in a unique vehicle with out of state license plates the early morning hours of the in the vicinity of the burglaries. Pearl officers located the vehicle the next morning at a safety checkpoint in the city. Lefevre and Coram were taken in to custody for possession of narcotics, and warrants out of the state of Arkansas, where they were listed as wanted fugitives.
The duo stated they ingested narcotics, and were transported to an area hospital in Jackson. The duo then escaped from the hospital, and Jeffrey Lefevre was taken into custody by Capital Police, but Billy Coram was not.
Detectives were notified of this recent incident, and conducted a search warrant on the vehicle seen in the video surveillance, and recovered the stolen tools from the city building, and suspected burglar tools used in the Jackson Motor Sports burglary.
Lefevre confessed to police and Coram was listed as a wanted fugitive and was arrested by Jonesboro, Arkansas police on August 8. Coram will be extradited to Mississippi.
