Two fatally shot in front of fairgrounds as parade-goers fill Jackson downtown

Two are dead after a Florence man allegedly shot them in front of the Mississippi State Fairgrounds Saturday.

According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, the two were shot on Jefferson Street around 1 p.m. Saturday, during the festivities surround the Hal’s St. Paddy’s Day Parade.

DPS Spokesperson Bailey Martin said Capitol Police officers responded to a call of shots fired. When they got there, they found two victims.

Jordan Kyle Cummins, 27, was wanted in connection with this incident. Witnesses said he fled the scene in a 2008 Gold Chevrolet Malibu with Mississippi tag #RAX 5933. He was apprehended shortly thereafter.
