On Monday, March 6, Indiana State Police stopped a car for speeding in Wayne County and realized the driver was wanted out of Mississippi for Murder.
According to a press release, the traffic stop happened around 10:30 a.m.
Sgt. Brian Metcalfe was patrolling Interstate 70 near the 137-mile marker (Cambridge City exit) when he noticed a semi-truck driving above the posted speed limit.
A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was identified as 32-year-old Jeffrey Lee Walker Jr. of Cleveland, Mississippi.
Sgt. Metacalfe learned that Walker was wanted on an active double murder warrant out of Mississippi.
According to the Southaven Police Department, the warrant stemmed from an alleged incident that took place on Halloween of 2020.
Two people were shot and killed and a third person was wounded at the Halloween party.
Jeffrey Lee Walker Jr. was arrested and transported to the Wayne County Jail where he will wait for extradiction back to Mississippi.
