Ridgeland police catch 2 carjackers, 1 more on the run

Two men are behind bars after allegedly carjacking a victim at gunpoint in Ridgeland

According to Ridgeland Police spokesman Commander Brian Myers, units responded to the report of an armed carjacking at the Mark Apartments at 711 Lake Harbour Drive just before 6 am Monday.

Witnesses told police two unidentified males had taken a Honda Civic at gunpoint from a resident of the apartment complex. The victim was able to tell police about a suspect vehicle, which was later located and officers pursued it into Jackson.

The suspects wrecked the vehicle on Shady Lane in South Jackson, and three suspects fled the scene. Two were caught and arrested. A third suspect from the pursuit was not located.

Dejuan Deshaun Reed, 19, is charged with contempt of court, armed carjacking, receiving over $1,000 of stolen property, fleeing arrest, and disorderly conduct/failure to comply.

Montavious Shundel Wilson is charged with possession of marijuana in a vehicle, armed carjacking, receiving over $1,000 of stolen property, and fleeing arrest.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no one was injured.

The vehicle the suspects were in was stolen out of Jackson on Saturday.

The stolen Honda Civic has not been located.
