A Jackson family found themselves running for cover when gunfire erupted roughly a football field’s distance from their home.
The adult son of the family, who wished to remain unnamed, said they were in the front yard hanging decorations when the shots rang out. He said first there was “a bunch of screaming and yelling,” then two or three shots were fired.
The residents said they didn’t see if anyone was injured, and that they didn’t see an ambulance, but that they’re not sure they could see the big picture from inside their home.
“I’m trying to get my parents out of that area,” the son said by text.
In addition, the son said the action may have been one street over from where his parents’ home is.
We have reached out to Jackson Police Department spokesman Sam Brown for further information. This story is still developing, and we will update as we have more.
