On February 3, Investigators Jason Chism and Torie Jumper assisted the Mississippi Department of Public Safety on a vehicle safety inspection.

A stolen firearm out of Virginia was recovered.

69-year-old Prmius Byrd of River Rouge MI was in possession of the stolen firearm.

Byrd is a convicted felon with previous charges and convictions of Attempted Criminal Homicide, Aggravated Rape, Kidnapping and Grand Larceny.

The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department charged Byrd with Possession of a Weapon by Felon, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Byrd will be presented to the next Prentiss County Grand Jury as a Habitual Offender.

Justice Court Judge Kimi Kitchens set the bond at $50,000.00.
