The New Albany Police Department is searching for a woman they say attacked two other women with pepper spray at a local Walmart.
A post by Chief Chris Robertson says that on May 11 around 10:30 a.m., police received a call from Walmart Super Center located at 202 Park plaza Drive in New Albany.
The caller said they thought there had been a chemical spill of some kind and that there was a woman on scene that was having a hard time breathing.
Officers were dispatched along with the Fire Department and EMS to Walmart. Upon further investigation, they learned that a woman who looked to be white, wearing blue jeans and a black shirt, had been sitting on a bench in the entrance area of the general merchandise side with a concealed can of pepper spray.
Authorities said the woman, later identified as 27-year-old Laura Ann Marie Patrick, had waited on two unsuspecting female customers to come out and then casually got up from the bench and allegedly pepper sprayed the two victims.
The victims were treated and released by EMS on the scene.
“As a strange note to this case, the suspect is dropped off at Walmart by a black Nissan pickup and picked up by a white four door sedan after spraying the victims,” Robertson wrote. “There is no apparent connection between the suspect and victims.”
Patrick is a white female, 29 years old. She is 5’7’’, 120 pounds, with black hair, a small frame, and light complexion. She does not have a current address, but known to stay around the Moss Hill Drive area, Eastwood Properties which were formally Resthaven on East Bankhead.
