Picayune Police Department make multiple drug arrests on Thursday

Picayune Police Department made several drug arrests on Thursday, according to a release.

On Thursday, detectives with the Picayune Police Department Special Operations Division conducted a probable cause traffic stop on a red Nissan Sentra at Palestine Road near Union School Road.

During the stop probable cause was established to search the vehicle. The driver, Alex Cooper, and passenger, Chantea Brown, were later found to be in possession of a distribution amount of cocaine.

They were both charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute within 1500 feet of a church as well as tampering with physical evidence.

Detectives also executed a search warrant at 602 Richard Street, the residence of Travis Holloway. When Detectives arrived, Holloway fled the area on foot and was quickly apprehended. Holloway attempted to discard illegal narcotics while running but it was located by K-9 Trea after an article search.

Kelvin Stallings was also located at the residence at the time of the search warrant. Through investigative techniques it was determined that Holloway was in the vehicle with Stallings just before officers arrived.

Stallings and Holloway were taken into custody and charged with trafficking of a controlled substance (cocaine). Holloway was also charged with tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest by fleeing.

“Detectives have made it known that distribution of illegal narcotics will not be tolerated,” the agency said in a release. “These arrests were a group effort from officers of all divisions.”
