A Pearl River County man was arrested on multiple drug charges and assault on an officer late last week.
On Friday, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators were conducting proactive operation in the Nicholson area of Picayune. While working, they observed a vehicle blocking the roadway at 121 Daisy Drive.
Investigators approached the residence and made contact with Sergio Williams, 50. The Investigators were familiar with William’s extensive criminal history, so they noticed Williams behaving suspiciously. Williams’ behavior gave the Investigators reasonable suspicion to ask Williams to step outside the residence and into the yard. Prior to Williams exiting the residence, Investigators observed Willaims reach into his waistband and toss an item to the side of the door onto an open porch area.
Williams’ actions provided enough probable cause to detain him. When investigators attempted to do so, Williams actively resisted. After a struggle, Williams complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
During a probable cause search of the area around the porch, Investigators discovered, in plain sight what they believed to be a distribution amount of methamphetamine Williams had attempted to conceal from Investigators.
Williams was charged with tampering with evidence, possession with intent to distribute, and assault on an officer.
